Hot training on the roller with a heater

After the Eneco Tour, we put in two days of training with the team which will ride the Team Time Trial in Qatar. Like last year we rented an airport runway, to train our formation. It was very productive and also a lot of fun.

Speaking of Qatar: After the runway training I traveled directly to Münster, where I did some "special" training for the temperatures in Qatar. That is, on the rollers in the bathroom in front of a hot air fan heater. Sounds funny, but it is so ;-) There are studies that show an adaption, when you simulate the heat this way for a certain amount of time. Of course I was in the sauna too. You just try everything to gain a few percent over your rivals. And I have also heard that I am not the only one who is preparing for Qatar this way.

Unfortunately my "hot" preparations were torpedoes somewhat by the the rainy finale in today’s Münsterland Giro. It will be interesting to see what it brings. Tomorrow I go to Brussels and then further, and then I can keep on training in the "real" heat. We will then really work hard to get ready for the team time trial. I will be in touch again from the desert ;-)
